Reflections

#1        Language can be very sweet but also bitter. What i mean is police can use their tactics which is very manipulating , forcing you to agree to a crime/act that you never done. Nonetheless, you should be responsible for your words.  For example, If you promise someone that you’ll be their at a certain place and time you have to be capable of holding that promise. In the end language can mean less if it is used in a wrong way multiple times.

I was born in New York so i grew up speaking english but my grandmother raised me during my childhood so  i can speak chinese , more specifically cantonese. Also i watched a lot of chinese movies which helped me further more . Language plays an important role in someone’s life. It shows you how well someone is on an academic level by being able to express one’s thoughts and feelings. Just by talking to someone you can tell where their from and their side of story.  In school we show respect towards teachers and elderly  people. For example we don’t address teachers by their first name. Instead we call them Mr, Ms, Mrs, followed by their last name. This is a sign of respect which language can represent in many shapes and forms.

#2        I plan on doing about global warming but still thinking about how it connects to language.

#3        A inquiry-based research essay is coming up with a research question. But first it must be approved by the professor. We will then use rhetorical elements, what we did for our previous essay. You will provide 4 scholarly plus 3 sources and interview or observe a non profit organization.  You have to find an essay that you can outline and follow. There will be 4 writing genres to follow from. The first one is reflection, why you chose this question. If you don’t have a question yet, then think of 3 ideas you will like to use. The second one is proposal, after doing some research, you should have a firm research question. You should include a time line and a bibliography. The third is focusing on your sources, have an idea which one to use and discard.  They have to be able to back up your question with valuable information and facts. Lastly reflect on what you wrote and what you learned throughout writing. Each one of these genres should be 1-2 pages long.

My topic could be, how much longer of life do we have left in this world? Global warming been a huge problem and i think it would be an interesting one to follow. But i believe that no one will truly know, so i will further explore other topics that i can base research on. Maybe i can write about something related to history. I think the time period of World War II is interesting.

#4        At the beginning of my C2G, I did not know how to make a website. But luckily, my friend introduce me to this tool called Canva, which was very helpful in creating my website.  I was able to put photos in my desired location with ease. Also it was simple and there are plenty of templates to choose from. My goal was to keep my website as simple as possible. I did not want to distract my audience but instead focus on the storyline more. You are able to scroll down the website and view different people from every aspect of life. You will be able to look at what lessons they learned through live experiences. Also i was able to receive positive feedback from my professor that suggested lived experience. I then chose a specific group which was African Americans because my iinterest in black studies.
